How does Summer Reading work?
Register. Read. Attend. Win!
Summer Reading: A Universe of Stories is as simple as that. Starting Tuesday, May 28, register for Summer Reading and pick up your reading log at any location of the Pickerington Public Library .

You can also register online, then pick up your reading log at your next visit to the library.

How do I participate?

Read!

Every fifteen (15) minutes that you read equals one (1) picture on your reading log. You can also participate by attending library events from June 1 through August 10. Every event you attend equals two (2) pictures on the log.

After every five (5) hours read, return to the library with your reading log to collect a prize!

When can I pick up prizes?
You can pick up prizes starting on June 3. The last date to turn in your reading log to receive a prize is August 10. You can pick up prizes at any location of the Pickerington Public Library.
What can I read?
There are no limits on what you can read! We have some suggestions to get you started:
If your child is too young to read, we encourage parents, caregivers, and siblings to read to their child. That time will still count on their reading log, and on yours!
What are the age requirements?
Anyone can join Summer Reading at the library! We even offer a reading log for babies (ages 0-23 months), so that parents and caregivers can develop literacy skills and attend events with their children.
Are there special events I can attend?
Every event or class that you attend at the library, at any location, during Summer Reading counts as two (2) pictures on your reading log. See all upcoming events on the calendar, or pick up a summer information guide at the library. Some events may require registration, so please ask a staff member if you have questions!

Teens ages 12 to 17 are invited to the Teen Lock-In once they have completed their reading logs and have submitted their completed reading logs by August 2. Parent/Guardian Permission Forms for Teen Lock-In are available at Summer Reading prize tables.

What prizes can I win?
For each level completed on your reading log, you will receive a prize from the Treasure Box – which has selections for all ages – plus a raffle ticket to enter a grand prize raffle. You can chose from among ten grand prize raffle picks; there are selections in the treasure box for all ages. Click here for a list of grand prizes, all donated thanks to local organizations!
Participants of all ages are also eligible to choose a free book when they complete the Summer Reading log. Prizes are the same at all locations of the library.
