Meet Violet

Pickerington Public Library Reading Ambassador

Reading Ambassador, Violet the Cow, represents the mission of Pickerington Public Library.

Inspiring Learning, Connecting Community, Enriching Our World and Foster a Love of Reading

Violet can often be seen at special events in the library and out in the community.

Facts About Violet

Why does Pickerington Public Library have a cow as a mascot?

Farming is part of the strong history in Pickerington, Ohio. There were several prominent dairy farms and producers in our area, including Wetherell Dairy and Mayflower Creamery. Pickerington Public Library was built on one of those farms, the Blauser Farm.

How was Violet’s name selected?

Because Violet lives in Violet Township, of course!

Where can I visit Violet?

Violet attends many events in the library and out in the community throughout the year. Some of those events include:

  • Summer Reading events such as Big Summer Celebration
  • Winter Reading events
  • Comic Fest
  • Pickerington Labor Day Parade
  • Trick or Treat in the Library
  • Santa Saturday
  • Some dates of the Pickerington Farmers’ Market – Violet can’t attend all of them because sometimes it’s just too hot for a Cow.
  • Pickerington Chamber of Commerce Murder Mystery Night
  • Violet has even participated in the Mascot Dash in downtown Columbus!

Watch for details about all library events on our Calendar of Events page.
