Coming Soon! Seed Library – Now Accepting Seed Donations
What’s a Seed Library, you ask? A Seed Library is a free community resource where customers can “check out” seeds to plant at home—just like borrowing a book. Here’s how it works: Customers take a small packet of seeds to grow in their own gardens. At the end of the season, they’re encouraged (but not required) to save seeds from their plants and donate some back. Over time, the collection grows through community sharing.
Now accepting seed donations to help get this new resource started. Seed donations are accepted at all library locations. Donated seeds will be sorted, organized, and prepared for circulation by library staff.
Seed Donation Guidelines:
- Commercial seed packets (opened or sealed, preferably with original labeling).
• Clean, dry, and clearly labeled seeds saved from personal gardens.
• Seeds from public domain, non-hybrid (open-pollinated or heirloom) plants, in compliance with Ohio law regarding seed distribution.
Unaccepted Donations:
- Seeds that are wet, moldy, appear diseased, are unlabeled (unless designated for “Chaos Gardening”), or are from hybrid varieties (unless explicitly requested for specific educational purposes) will not be accepted.
