Summer Reading Program: Build a Better World

 Summer Reading registration opens on Tuesday, May 30!

How do yBuild a Better World Logoou register?

  • Starting Tuesday, May 30, register in person for our kids’ program (up to grade 5), and online or in person for our teen program (entering grades 5 through 12) and adult programs.
  • Pick up a reading record at our Youth Services Desk, for the kids’ program, or at our Adult Services Desk, for the teen and adult programs

You can register all summer long – but if you register the first week (May 30-June 4), you will win a raffle ticket: enter our drawings for the chance to win one of four baskets of prizes!

How do you participate?

Achivement levels for pre-readers:

  • Read 8 books: earn a plastic book bag
  • Read 20 books: earn an Earth Day recycle bracelet
  • Read 40 books: earn a collection of coupons
  • Read 60 books: earn an earth ball
  • Read 80 books: earn a free book!

Saturday, August 5, is the last day to turn in reading records!

You can also attend library programs: 1 program is equal to 2 windows on your reading record, so the more programs you attend, the more books you earn! See all library Summer Reading programs by clicking here.

  • Read for 5 hours: earn an Earth Day recycle bracelet
  • Read for 10 hours:  earn a collection of coupons
  • Read for 15 hours: earn an earth ball

  • Read 5 books: choose from assorted prizes (see below)
  • Read 10 books: choose from assorted prizes (below)
  • Read 15 books: receive an entry slip for the grand prize drawing to win iPad mini
  • For 5 books read, after 15: receive an additional entry slip for the grand prize drawing

What prizes can you earn?

All ages:

  • Pre-registration raffle! If you register for Summer Reading during the first week of registration (Tuesday, May 30-Sunday, June 4), you receive a raffle ticket: enter your ticket for a chance to win one of four raffle baskets:

Kids program:

  • Level one (8 books for pre-readers, or 2 hours for readers): plastic book bag
  • Level two (20 books for pre-readers or 5 hours for readers): Earth Day recycle bracelet
  • Level three (40 books for pre-readers or 10 hours for readers): collection of coupons
  • Level four (60 books for pre-readers or 15 hours for readers): earth kick balls
  • Level five (80 books for pre-readers or 20 hours for readers): free book!

Teen and adult programs:

After reading five (5) books, select one of the following from our grab bag:

  • Pen and notepad
  • Tote bag
  • Tool and light keychain
  • Cube puzzle
  • Deck of cards

After reading ten (10) books, select one of the following from our grab bag:

  • Travel tumbler
  • Sticky-note block
  • Coloring journal and coloring pencils
  • Spiral notebook

After you’ve read ten books, keep reading! When you reach fifteen (15) books, you will be entered into the drawing for our grand prize: an iPad Mini! For every additional five books after that, you will receive another drawing entry – the more you read, the more chances you have to win!

There will be one iPad winner for the teen program, and one iPad winner for the adult program.
