Subject:        Thank You for Supporting Freedom to Read

Dear Pickerington Community,

I want to extend my deepest gratitude to everyone who voiced their support, contacted decision-makers, and engaged thoughtfully regarding the proposed provision in House Bill 96 (ORC Section 3375.47) that would have significantly restricted access to library materials for youth. Your commitment to protecting access to information and supporting the freedom to read remains important to our work.

I also recognize that not everyone agreed with removing this provision from the budget. These conversations reflect the diversity of perspectives within our community. As your public library, it is our responsibility to provide access to information and resources for all people, regardless of background or belief. We remain committed to serving every individual with respect, dignity, and open access.

Thank you for your continued engagement and for standing with us as we fulfill our mission to empower, inspire, and connect.

With appreciation,

Tony Howard
Director/Deputy Fiscal Officer
