Homeschool Connect: Hibernate!

January 18, 2019 @ 2:00 pm - 3:00 pm

Held at Pickerington Main Library.
Homeschool Connect is a great way to make connections and network with other homeschool families. Classes will focus on science, art, literature and more and are designed for children in grades K-5.
Do not disturb! Some animals spend the winter hibernating: a survival strategy where they store up energy prior to periods of insufficient food availability. Some of these animals can even lower their breathing and heart rate so they can drop their body temperature; all of this to use less energy so they can survive until it’s time to “wake up.” Another cool fact: not at all hibernation occurs in the winter!
At our January Homeschool Connect event, we’ll investigate which animals hibernate, what time of year, and for how long. Explore what their bodies instinctively tell them to do to prepare for this period.
