Math in Your Everyday World – Mid-Morning Sessions

An event every week that begins at 10:30 am on Thursday, repeating until August 11, 2016
This is a free program for adults, presented by ABLE Academy in partnership with the Pickerington Public Library. Registration is required (see below).
This is an 8 part series to be held on the following Thursday mornings from 10:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.. Dates: June 23 and 30, July 7,14,21 and 28, Aug. 4 and 11.
Students who sign-up are strongly encouraged to complete all 8 sessions in order.
Math in Your Everyday World – topics covered
- Mental-Math – Fractions, percents, and decimals come up everyday if you watch for them.
- Math and Money – Know how to balance your checkbook and understand the difference between “good interest and” “bad interest”.
- Cooking and Math – Math skills can really help if you’re needing to increase or decrease the numbers you’re cooking for.
- Estimating and Comparing – How can you figure out if you’re getting a good deal or not when you go to those stores?
