April’s Picks: Picture Books
The Kissing Hand, by Audrey Penn: Whether your child is headed to school or adventuring off for the first time on their own, this timeless classic is the perfect book to share. Chester the Raccoon is scared to leave his mom on the first day of Kindergarten. Mrs. Raccoon shows Chester an old family secret. She kisses Chester on the palm of his hand and says “Whenever you feel lonely and need a little loving from home, just press your hand to your cheek and think, Mommy loves you” I have used this lesson with my own children.
