Teen Spotlight: Superhero Reads

There’s no doubt that superheroes are huge right now! Marvel movies continue to rule the box office with each new release. DC has four successful television shows on the CW and is celebrating the big release of the Wonder Woman movie. That, and geek culture is all the rage! With all this popularity, it’s no surprise that superheroes have been making a big appearance on library shelves. Of course, we have all the big superhero comics, but many superhero characters are also appearing in novel form.

On August 29, we will see the release of Wonder Woman: Warbringer by Leigh Bardugo, the first book in the DC Icons series. This series will put DC’s biggest characters in the hands of some of the best young adult authors. The Wonder Woman novel will be followed by books featuring Batman (to be written by Marie Lu, author of the Legend and Young Elites series), Superman (to be written by Matt de la Peña, author of The Living series), and Catwoman (to be written by Sarah J. Maas, author of the Throne of Glass and A Court of Thorns and Roses series). Marvel has also started introducing their characters in novel form with the Black Widow series written by Margaret Stohl and The Unbeatable Squirrel Girl novel written by Shannon Hale and Dean Hale.
