Summer Reading may be over, but the books that our summer readers loved are available all year long. Our Juvenile Assistant April looks back on the biggest successes of Summer Reading!
This summer, children who participated in the library’s Summer Reading Program were asked to fill out a slip of paper that included their favorite book title or book series. Those papers were hung on a wall in our story time area. Slowly the wall filled up until we eventually ran out of space. It was fun to watch it grow bigger through the summer and interesting to learn what books kids preferred. After reviewing the titles there was one clear favorite.
And the winner is…
It comes to no surprise that Captain Underpants was the favorite. With the movie release this summer, it was favorably the winning series by far. What’s surprising is with the abundance of titles available these days, every summer, the same series top the chart, with just a few new ones entering the list.
Here are the top favorite series from the Wall of Readers.
Lego books: Superhero / Ninjago / Star Wars
Our Wall of Readers was completed on August 5. Thank you to all who took the time to fill out the slips: it was well received and we plan to continue this next summer!
