The Pickerington Public Library is excited to announce a unique new class: Sensory Storytime is the newest addition to our Early Literacy Classes and is specifically designed for children with special needs: it provides a comfortable, judgement-free setting for children with disabilities and their families to enjoy and explore the library.
In addition to attending Sensory Storytime, families will have access to resources geared toward their specific needs. Check out some of our new resources below!
Books
Software
The Pickerington Public Library has purchased Boardmaker software from Mayer Johnson: Boardmaker allows users the ability to print pictures that can be used with visual schedules, communication boards, and choice boards. The software is used by many special education teachers and therapists. In conjunction with the start of Sensory Storytime, Boardmaker will be available at Pickerington Main for families to use in the library. The software will be available on certain computers and you will have the ability to print off pictures to use at home.

Sensory Storytime will be run by Grace Walker, who has ten years of experience in special education and Applied Behavioral Analysis. If you have any questions about Sensory Storytime, you can contact Grace at gwalker@pickeringtonlibrary.org.
