Ms. Wheelchair Ohio 2023, Allison Boot, will be with us on March 17, from 2:00-3:30 p.m., as a guest speaker for the NEA Big Read 2024. Allison will share a presentation on the impact she has had in the role of Ms. Wheelchair Ohio, her READ platform, and the inclusive books she has published. Followed by an activity where participants will learn how to ‘write their own story.’

Allison Boot, who lives with cerebral palsy, is a three-time self-published author with a Master of Arts in Mass Communication. As a “wheelin’ wordsmith,” she creates stories featuring disabled characters to spread messages of self-acceptance and equality to young people traveling paths similar to hers. While Allison enjoys writing and advocating very much, being a wife and dog mom is what she loves most. Read more
