Pickerington Public Library supports World’s Largest Diaper Drive

(Pickerington, Ohio) Pickerington Public Library is pleased to announce a new partnership with Bottoms Up Diaper Drive.  Bottoms Up Diaper Drive’s vision is to end diaper need in the regions they serve. Bottoms Up Diaper Drive partners with local social service agencies to provide free diapers to low-income families while raising awareness of the basic health need for diapers. In order to meet the growing demand for diapers, Bottoms Up Diaper Drive is organizing the World’s Largest Diaper Drive on May 1 to collect 250,000 diapers in one day! And Pickerington Public Library has signed on to host a month-long diaper drive to help.

During the whole month of April, the library will serve as a drop-off location at both Pickerington Main and Sycamore Plaza. All sizes of diapers are needed; newborn through toddler. Government assistance programs do not provide funding for diapers, a basic necessity for babies and toddlers. Many families face a daily struggle to secure a necessary supply of diapers. It is critically important to connect families to the basic needs provided by Bottoms Up to build a stronger, healthier and more stable community,” said Colleen Bauman, Community Engagement Manager. “We are proud to do our part to host this month-long diaper drive to support the well-being of babies and toddlers in our area.”

To help, anyone from the community may drop off diapers at either library location, April 1 – 30, 2021. Diapers will then be delivered to the Pickerington hub by May 1, 2021, to be part of this momentous event.

The Bottoms Up Diaper Drive ministry shares the following information and statistics:

  • Diaper need is defined as the lack of a sufficient supply of diapers to keep a baby clean, dry, and healthy.
  • 1 in 3 U.S. moms report suffering from diaper need.
  • Diaper need impacts the physical, mental and economic well-being of children and parents.
  • Most childcare centers require parents to provide a day’s supply of disposable diapers.
  • Without diapers, babies cannot be placed in childcare facilities nor participate in early childhood education programsWithout childcareparents cannot go to work.
