Pickerington Public Library strives to provide accessible materials, programs and services that will meet the learning and engagement needs of everyone in the community. 

Boardmaker

Boardmaker allows users the ability to print pictures that can be used with visual schedules, communication boards and choice boards. Mayer Johnson’s Boardmaker sofware is available for customers to use in the libraryThe software is available on specific computers in the computer lab. See a staff member for more information. 

Braille and Large Print Books

The library has a collection of braille and large print books for individuals who are blind or have low vision. Check out the card catalog to search for braille and large print books

High Visibility Keyboard

The library has a high-visibility keyboard for customer use at Pickerington Main Library. The keyboard features high contrast, large print keys to assist individuals with a visual impairment. Customers can request to use the keyboard at the Information Services desk. 

KultureCity

The Pickerington Public Library has partnered with KultureCity to improve our ability to assist and accommodate customers with sensory needs. We strive to raise awareness of the needs and challenges faced by individuals with sensory processing disorders by supplying our staff with continuous training and offering the resources and accommodations below to our customers.

Programming

Accommodations can be made to all of the library’s programming and services.

Volunteering

There are many rewarding opportunities for volunteers including keeping, our collection in order, greeting customers as they enter the library and assisting staff during library classes and events. Volunteer tasks can be adapted to allow individuals with disabilities the opportunity to volunteer at the library. WYNN Literacy Software

WYNN is a literacy software tool used to help individuals with reading and writing challenges, such as dyslexia, dysgraphia, and aphasia.  The software simultaneously highlights text as it is spoken and then prints the text. Technology trainers are available to those who need assistance with the WYNN Literacy software.
